Francis J. Faber, age 79 of Clare, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 at his home. Francis was born the son of John and Anna (Reihl) Faber on September 18, 1928 in Weidman. He was united in marriage to Shirley Cashen on November 6, 1954 in Beal City. He had served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps. Francis had lived in the Clare area for 52 years. He had been a pipeline worker for Welded, and also a Dairy Farmer. Francis was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and also Union Local 1098. Francis belonged and attended the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare.
Francis is survived by his wife Shirley; children William of Harrison, Teresa Clark of Clare, Robert of Clare, Deb (Harold) Schleicher of Stockton, Kansas, Linda (John) Fabian of Rosebush, and Casey Faber of Royal Oak; his grandchildren Brian Clark, Casie Clark, Carissa Clark, Ashley Faber, Nick Faber, Pvt. Justin Schleicher USMC, Christopher Schleicher, Molly Schleicher, Richard Schleicher, Sgt. Eric (Jenna) Fabian USMC, Alissa Fabian and Lauren Fabian; his three great grandchildren Ava Fabian, Lily Clark and Blake Clark; two brothers Ed and Gerald Faber; and his sister Kate Pasch. Francis was predeceased by his parents, and a brother Jim, and a sister Louise Riley.
